How to Fill Out a Wedding RSVP Card?

How to fill out a wedding RSVP card?

When it comes to planning a wedding, it can be quite stressful. There are so many things couples need to do including sending out their wedding invitation cards. Now there is one thing that needs special consideration when it comes to wedding invites which is the RSVP card. It’s time to find out how to respond to a wedding RSVP card.

What is an RSVP Card?

But first things first. It is basically a response card that guests who have been invited need to respond with. Telling the host whether or not they will be attending is important. It lets the host decide on the seating arrangements and make appropriate arrangements for food and beverages. It is up to the host to send out an RSVP card along with the wedding invitation.

If you have received a wedding invitation, chances are that you will have to fill out an RSVP card as well. Here’s how to fill out an RSVP wedding card properly.

How to fill out an RSVP card?

Here are some pointers to help you understand how to respond to the RSVP card.

Who has been invited? Usually, hosts of a wedding are clear about who they have invited to their wedding. This can include the whole family, just the couple, a plus one, or something else. Sometimes, hosts make it a point to have an adult-only wedding affair.

The key here to understand is never to push the hosts to allow anyone they don’t want at their wedding. This includes children to an adults-only party no matter how well-behaved they may be.

Writing your name on the M line is the next step. Use the Mr, Miss or Mrs tag to do so and write your name as it has been addressed in the outer envelope.

If both you and your spouse share a surname, it is okay to write ‘’Mr and Mrs’’ followed by your surnames. If you are single, prefix Mr or Miss followed by your name. If you and your partner have different surnames, write out both of your full names.

Another part of how to respond to an RSVP card is to mention the number of attendees that are going to be. You will have to mention how many people will be attending and how many people can. For example, if out of 4 people invited, only 2 are going, you will have to mention it before ‘’accepts’’ or ‘’declines’’.

Another point about RSVPs is to select any meal preferences if they are mentioned. For example, you may get an RSVP where you have to choose between vegetarian, vegan, and meat options. Tick the one that you want.

How to Respond to an RSVP Card?

The most important thing to know about how to respond to an RSVP card is to do it by the date the host wants you to. This is so that your host has the time to find the total headcount for the wedding and plan accordingly.

It is a great idea to write a little note if the card has some space. Make sure that the tone is upbeat and that you express genuine pleasure at the couple’s union. It gives the couple insight into how happy you are about their wedding and how glad you are to attend. In moments of stressful wedding planning, this can be great to boost up people’s energies.

Now that you know how to fill out an RSVP card for a wedding, you must make sure to do it every time you get an invite. Of course, it is common sense that if you are unable to attend the wedding even after saying ‘’yes’’ on the RSVP, let the host know as soon as possible. Sometimes, this is unavoidable like a family emergency. Let your apology be known and if possible, send a wedding gift. This way the couple will know you sincerely wished to be there.

Attending a wedding can be a lot of fun. So if you get an invite and if there are no other pressing commitments, make it a point to attend. You will be able to enjoy it and the couple will also be happy you came.
